Schema.org

The schema.org project is the result of a collaboration between the developers of the four most popular search engines in the world: Google, Bing, Yahoo and Yandex. The aim of the collaboration is to globally standardise how a website’s structured data should look and function. Under the terms of the project, these can be implemented using:

  • microdata,
  • RDFa,
  • JSON-LD.

The above methods require modification of the site code – either manually or using plug-ins or options available in the content management system.

The advantage of following schema.org’s recommendations is undoubtedly to make your site stand out from other search results. Enriching the basic information about the portal with simple graphics, average user ratings or product availability are undoubtedly ways to increase the number of hits. In future, the presence of structured data will be taken into account when determining the position in the organic results.
