RSS
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is actually a group of markup languages that allow the creation of simple information messages. In fact, the term is used to refer to a whole technology that makes it possible not only to construct such messages, but also to distribute them through so-called channels.
Installing RSS on one’s own website makes it possible to send information to the subscribers of a feed, e.g. about new entries, changes or news. Using RSS feeds allows you to collect all the news from different portals in one place, which is a convenient way to stay ‘up to date’ with your favourite blogs or other portals without having to visit them.
In order to subscribe to a feed, it is necessary to implement it on a specific page. Receiving messages, however, requires appropriate software. This can be either dedicated applications or built-in modules in web browsers.
